Texas Rangers Poised to Breakthrough:

It's the second half of the Major League Baseball season.
Some things are the norm, including the New York Yankees being near the top,
the St. Louis Cardinals atop the NL Central. One team that made a splash
earlier this season, the Texas Rangers seem to be in the best position to
make a great run during the second half of the MLB season. They have a five
game lead over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. They added Cliff Lee
before the All Star break. He's going to make the most impact.
The Rangers have one of the most potent lineups in baseball. Josh Hamilton
is quickly becoming the most feared hitter in all of baseball. He boasts a
.352 batting average along with 68 RBIs and .625 slugging percentage.
Designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero used to have that title, but he's still
scorching the ball, with a .326 average with 76 RBIs. They even added Benjie
Molina from San Francisco. Molina should help in the lineup. He was the only
strong hitter for the Giants since Bonds left. It should be interesting to
see him get pitches to hit every at bat.
They're also waiting for Rich Harden and Derek Holland to get off the
disabled list. The reinforcements will only help the Rangers increase their
division lead. It's all in preparation for the post season. Lee had a great
impact last season for the Philadelphia Phillies. He was the only pitcher to
beat the Yankees in the World Series. He's going to help the Rangers in the
playoffs. A lot depends on final standings. Lee can't win the series by
himself. Harden and one other pitcher must have great individual games to
beat teams like the Yankees, Detroit Tigers or Chicago White Sox.
The Rangers will win the AL West this season. Can they find complete
starting pitching to finally win a post season series? Hamilton, Guerrero
and the rest of that lineup can put numbers on the board, but can they win
2-1 pitchers duels that occur during the playoffs? They can, but only if Lee
is pitching in the game.
