The sports world lost a legend late Friday night. The
Wizard of Westwood, John Wooden has passed away. He truly was the greatest
basketball coach of all time. He won 38 straight games in the NCAA
tournament. He won 10 NCAA titles in 12 years while coaching at UCLA. The
record of 88 consecutive wins still stands. He was the first person to be
enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a coach and a player.
Wooden's achieve
Wooden coached the game the right way. He never spoke of winning, just about
how to prepare for both the game and life. He taught life lessons that his
players took on the court. The man was so success at this coaching style that
he only had one losing season as a high school or college coach, his first
season as a coach. His Pyramid of Success, his method of teaching showed how
Wooden was able to teach his lessons.
He coached Jabbar, Walton and Hazzard. He was able to win championships
without any big names. After his wife Nell's passing in 1985, Wooden wrote
her a letter a month up until his own death. Now, Wooden gets to read her
the letters he wrote to her. "Failing to prepare is preparing to Fail" His
quotes are great and his legacy is even greater.
