2010 NFL schedule released:

The National Football League does a great job drumming up interest during the off season. Free agency, the draft and today came the best news of all, the release of the 2010 NFL Schedule. The season starts with a classic rematch of the NFC Championship between the New Orleans Saints and the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday in New Orleans. They're going to hang the championship banner. It's going to be one of the biggest parties in New Orlean's history.

An interesting twist the schedule makers did this season was to play all division games on week 17. This means the tight wild card race could be settled over the course of a few games on the last Sunday of the regular season. The first regular season Monday Night Football brings an interesting storyline, as the Baltimore Ravens visit their former defensive coordinator Rex Ryan and the New York Jets. The matchup's been announced for a few weeks now, but as the Jets seem to get better, let's see how the new defense plays against Joe Flacco and that tough running game of the Ravens.

Week 2 of the NFL season sees some quality matchups, as the Pittsburgh Steelers face off against Vince Young and the Tennessee Titans. The Saints at the Atlanta Falcons headlines week 3 action. The Falcons will look to better a division rival, establishing an early lead within the division. The oldest rivarly in professional football resumes that Monday, as the Chicago Bears host the Green Bay Packers. The Packers look to their defense to guide them through some early season victories. Aaron Rodgers will play well, but if that defense improves over last season, the Vikings should be worried in the NFC Central race.

The headline games are still saved for the Sunday Night Football package on NBC. The NFL did a great job with the flex scheduling change, allowing networks to choose which games to broadcast in primetime if the current game is a unimportant late in the season. This all depends upon whether guys can stay healthy. It depends on which teams figure it out during the preseason and become a sleeper team that wins their division. There's few certainties in the NFL, but the Colts will always win with Peyton Manning. Drew Brees and the Saints have the best offense. The New England Patriots are beatable, but much can Tom Brady carry the Pats before that defense lets him down. Which team will come from the NFC besides Minnesota and New Orleans. Will Brett Favre return for the season?

These are all the questions that have left to be answered. It's what makes the NFL the greatest product. They have a tremendous ability to break fans hearts even before the teams take one snap of meaningful football. It's why die hards pour over stats from college players from Grand Valley State, because that might be the key guy to get your team over the top. It's just great and I'm excited to see what happens.
