Sunday Presents A Great Motorsports Day:

Well, it's Memorial Day weekend which means two of the
biggest motor races happen this weekend. Sunday brings the Indianapolis 500
and the Coca Cola 600. Indy Car Racing really lost a lot of its luster a
couple of years ago when the series split into CART and Indy Car. The two
have since reunited and with stars like Helio Castroneves and Danica
Patrick, regained some of what was lost all those years ago.
Patrick brings a lot of the spotlight to a sport that badly needs it, but
she's never been a Indy Car title contender. She has finished well at
Indianapolis Motor Speedway but hasn't won it yet. Castroneves seems like
the likely winner of the Indy 500. He's on the front row and usually has the
fastest car. There's also the usual suspects to upset Castroneves bid for
another Indy 500 win. Ryan Briscoe, Ed Carpenter and Marco Andretti could
all have a great day and earn wins, or disaster could strike and their days
could be over really fast. It's always worth watching the Indy 500 because
of the great speeds the cars will reach on the oval.
The Coca Cola 600 is NASCAR's longest race and it's always fun to watch. It
should be interesting to see if the Denny Hamlin/Kyle Busch feud continues.
The race is also unpredictable and the leaders early on usually don't lead
late in the race. Busch is always a contender to win the race, Hamlin is
too. Expect their Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Joey Logano to contend for the
race win. Logano's learned a lot since becoming a full time Sprint Cup
driver and it's going to take all of that knowledge to win the Coca Cola
600. Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin and a host of other cars should be in
contention. The last laps are always the funnest to watch, but the early
battles set up the rest of the race.
Memorial Day weekend presents two of sport's most intriguing events, along
with a host of other sporting events. If you're in an area where Mother
Nature isn't cooperating with your BBQing plans, check out those two great
races on Sunday.
