Lakers Dismantle Celtics to Set Stage for Game 7:

Well, the Los Angeles Lakers answered some questions. The
Los Angeles Lakers will host a game seven of the NBA Finals on Thursday due
to a complete dismantling of the Boston Celtics. The Lakers defeated the
Celtics by a score of 89-67. The Lakers out rebounded the Celtics 30-13 in
the first half.
The Lakers steamrolled the Celtics, leading by as much as 22 in the first
half, finishing at 51-31. The largest lead for the Lakers during the game
was 27 points. Kobe Bryant scored 15 points in the first half and finished
with 26 points and 11 rebounds for the game. The Lakers played a complete
game, with Ron Artest shooting 3-6 from three point land, finishing with 15
points. Pau Gasol contributed big for the Lakers too, recording a double
double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. It was a complete performance,
something not seen since game one of the series. It was a complete defensive
performance from the Lakers, holding the Celtics to the lowest scoring
performance since the Utah Jazz scored 54.
Bryant only took 19 shots, meaning the Lakers didn't just stand around and
watch Bryant. It shows the adjustments he was able to make to get his team
more active in the game. That happened and more. Gasol disappeared at times
during the series, now it seems like he's ready for a game seven. Lamar Odom
recorded 10 rebounds off the bench. The Lakers need an impact from the
bench. Bryant understands now that he can't be the entire team.
The Celtics couldn't muster much of anything against the determined Lakers.
Ray Allen was the only consistent offensive threat, scoring 19 points. The
Celtics bench presented a great disappearing act, as it only scored 13
points. The bigger loss would be that of starting center Kendrick Perkins.
Perkins sprained his right knee early in the game. It's unclear whether
Perkins will play in game seven for Boston.
The two teams have met in the Finals an astounding 17 times, and it's gone
to a game seven in just four of them. Boston has won the previous four game
sevens against the Lakers. The factor that wasn't in the previous games,
Kobe Bryant. Bryant should have his team ready for Game Seven. It's going to
be an epic clash between two great teams. Will the Lakers continue to use
their entire team and shut down the Celtics. It's the first game seven in
the NBA Finals since 2005, when the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Detroit
Pistons. It's going to be a great basketball game.
