Blackhawks Earn Cup, first in 49 Years:

Congrats to the Chicago Blackhawks for ending many, many
years of misery for your fans. The Blackhawks won their first Stanley Cup
since 1960-61, 49 years. The last time the Blackhawks were in the Finals was
1992, where they got swept by the Pittsburg Penguins. It's a long time
coming for an Original Six Franchise. Patrick Kane scored the game winner in
overtime. The Blackhawks won the series 4-2.
They did it with young sharpshooters along with a solid defense that allowed
few shots to get to goaltender Antero Niemi. Captain Jonathon Toews recorded
28 points during the playoffs, earning the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff
MVP. One other great story is that of Marian Hossa. Hossa played in his
third straight Stanley Cup Finals, all with different teams. He won his
first cup with the Blackhawks.
The NHL playoffs always perform, the hottest teams get the farthest. Kane,
Toews, defenseman Brian Campbell are all going to be around for the next few
years. Celebrate now Blackhawks fans, the team will be good for quite some
time. Hopefully, next season NHL fans will see Kane and Toews and the
Blackhawks versus Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin and the Pittsburgh
Penguins in the Finals.
