Bryant and Lakers Have Backs Against The Wall:

Will Kobe Bryant join Jerry West as two players that won the NBA Finals MVP and not the series? West won that distinction in 1969, losing to the Boston Celtics. Every Finals MVP since then has been on the winning team. Bryant scored 38 points in game five, 18 consecutive points in the third quarter for his team. The Celtics still increased their lead during the game, despite Bryant's efforts. Bryant has been the best player in the series. The Celtics have been the better team and hold that precious 3-2 series lead as the series returns to the City of Angels.

The Lakers hold an advantage playing in the Staples Center. It's a great venue and the Lakers fans provide great atmosphere. The Celtics are a veteran team that doesn't let the venue affect the outcome of the game. Paul Pierce has played like a man possessed. He was always the best player on the Celtics, even when they were a bad team. Now, he's has a better supporting cast than the 08 championship team. Glen Davis coming off the bench is playing for a starting job at some point in his career. Since Ray Allen's eight three pointers performance in game two, he's 0-18 for the rest of the series. Garnett's averaging just over 30 minutes a game.

Bryant can't be his entire team's scoring. He needs Gasol to return to game one form and dominate inside for the Lakers. Andrew Bynum's bad knees don't begin to describe his impact on the series. If Bynum was completely healthy, this series has a completely different feel. It leaves Bryant to have the game of his life or he'll have to wait a full year for his fifth ring. Rivers and the Celtics depth are defeating the Bryant Show. Expect Bryant to go off at home. Game sevens are the greatest events in sports. They've provided some of the greatest individual performances in NBA history. Maybe Bryant can pull off two more outstanding games and the Lakers will win another championship.
