Broncos Fire McDaniels: It's the first true somewhat
shocking reaction to one of the worst times in franchise history.
The Denver Broncos fired head coach Josh McDaniels on Monday.
Running backs coach Eric Studesville will take over as interim head
coach for the last month of the season. The McDaniels regime will
forever be seen as a complete failure. It was marred by Spygate II,
a horrible period of losing and terrible personnel decisions.

Colts Reign Over? It's a place where the
Indianapolis Colts haven't been in quite some time. They've always
found ways to win football games with Peyton Manning at quarterback.
It seemed that it didn't matter which wide receiver he threw to, the
team would always find ways to win football games. NFL team success
is usually a cyclical pattern of success then rebuilding. The Colts
have bucked the trend for a long time. It's because Manning is the
smartest player in the NFL.

Thursday NFL, Not So Must See TV: I support the
NFL's decision to broadcast games on Thursday night. The
Thanksgiving tradition is part of the fabric of the second to last
Thursday as turkey and stuffing. The NFL understood it needed a
television package so it picked Thursday night as the opportunity to
showcase its own network. It's just unpredictable how the match ups
turn out. The first contest this year, between the New York Jets and
Cincinnati Bengals was a snooze fest dominated by the Jets.

Clash of Styles On Display as Jets/Pats Square Off:
Rex Ryan was made for New York. He's beloved by the New
York media because of his press conferences and brass attitude. The
best quality about Ryan is the ability to win football games. The
New York Jets fans appreciate that quality most of all. He brought
stingy, 3-4 attacking style. It fit perfectly with the personnel
already in place with the Jets. Darrelle Revis allows Ryan to dial
up the blitz packages against opposing offenses. Mark Sanchez is
becoming a franchise quarterback in his second year. They did a
great job improving the weapons around him. Santonio Holmes won two
games with game-winning touchdowns in consecutive weeks.

nine seconds remaining to down the visiting Green Bay Packers, 20-17
on Sunday. The ramifications include potential home field advantage
throughout the playoffs if the Falcons gain the number one seed. The
team stands at 9-2, their third consecutive winning season and the
team has much bigger aspirations. It all starts with quarterback
Matt Ryan and the league's leading receiver, Roddy White.

Jets Get Second Consecutive Late Win: The weak
link seems to be the strongest position this season. Last year, Mark
Sanchez hampered some success the New York Jets had last year. The
team still made it to the AFC Championship game. This year, Sanchez
blossomed into a solid quarterback. He took another great step
Sunday afternoon, becoming the darling of New York after leading the
Jets on a game winning drive to defeat the Houston Texans. the
Texans held a 27-23 advantage with less than a minute left in the
game.

Jones Begins Coaching Search: Jerry Jones
announced during a radio appearance that many former Super Bowl
winning coaches have contacted him about becoming the next head
coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Former coach Tony Dungy told a media
outlet6e's not interested in the position. I'm guessing the coach
that contacted him was Brian Billick. He won a championship with the
Baltimore Ravens. He's going to be a candidate because of his
offense mind.

NFLPA Offer Proposals to Owners: There is now a
response from the NFLPA in response to the owner's desire for an
18-game regular season. A lot of the ideas make sense. They will
reduce the injury risk. The owners should adopt the policies. They
want fewer voluntary workouts, only 20 workouts over a four week
period. They also want less contact during training camp, with
stretches of pad-less practices. They want to expand the rosters
from 53 to 56 or 57 players.

NFL Still Up in the Air After 10 Weeks: There's
no really dominant team in the NFL this season. Each of the top
teams have hiccupped against opponents. The Pittsburgh Steelers were
the latest to do it. They lost to a highly motivated New England
Patriots squad that was spanked by the Cleveland Browns the week
prior. The New York Giants lost to a the Dallas Cowboys at home. The
Cowboys played inspired for new head coach Jason Garrett. It showed
how playing angry can help get a a win.

Chargers Looking To Make Run Toward Playoffs:
Philip Rivers is going after an NFL record, the yardage mark set by
Dan Marino in 1984. Rivers currently has 2478 yards in nine games.
Marino's mark was 5,084 during the ‘84 season. The offense is ranked
number one in the NFL, but the team only has a 4-5 record. They're
special teams have been largely disappointing, providing at least
one gaffe a game. The unit cost the team in week one against the
Kansas City Chiefs, giving up a TD return to Dexter McCluster.

It was bound to happen. Jerry Jones came out after several defeats
this season, standing by head coach Wade Philips. That ended Monday,

Romo at QB. The team underachieved and quickly became the most
disappointing NFL team this season.

Giants Establish Themselves as Class of NFC: The
New York Giants hired a new defensive coordinator this past off
season. How much effect would Perry Fewell have on the once vaunted
Giants defense? They were unsure how well Eli Manning was going to
play this season. They've answered those questions and more on the
way to becoming one of the top teams in the NFC. Fewell's installed
the right packages and the offensive front seven is getting to the
quarterback much like the team that won the Super Bowl in 2008.
Justin Tuck impacts every decision the opposing quarterback makes
even if it doesn't show up on the stat sheet.

Titans Add Moss and It's Still Not Enough: It's
said teams must win championships by taking gambles and bringing in
the player than can put your franchise over the top. The Tennessee
Titans hope that's what Randy Moss does after claiming the wide
receiver from the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday. Moss instantly
makes Vince Young a better player because they have a deep threat.
Head coach Jeff Fisher is the perfect coach for this type of
situation. He does a great job dealing with high profiled egos, see
Albert Haynesworth, Adam Jones and LenDale White.

Childress On Hot Seat After Releasing Moss: When

third round pick to the New England Patriots to get Moss. The action
comes after Moss ranted about the post practice spread on Friday.

much turnover and change that happens during an NFL regular season,

Roethlisberger will win games with his arm.

Permanent NFL Team in London? Highly Unlikely:
The NFL is a great league, It's admired by all the other sports
leagues in the U.S. They're always looking for growth in different
markets. A few years ago, they started playing games at London,
U.K.'s Wembley Stadium. It's happening again this weekend as the San

QB Contrast Provides Eagles With Great Problem: There
are many different story lines in the NFL this season. One of the
most intriguing continues to be the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback
situation. Earlier this season, head coach Andy Reid chose to start
rehabbed Michael Vick after Kevin Kolb suffered a concussion against
the Green Bay Packers. The offenses are completely different under
both starters. Vick provides a dynamic dual threat that's learning
to throw first and then run if necessary. Kolb is a much more pocket
QB with a great throwing arm and better decision making. It makes
the switch give fits to opposing defense.

Loss Means Changes Needed in Big D: The
Minnesota Vikings won the so-called "Desperation" Bowl on Sunday,
downing the visiting Dallas Cowboys 24-21 on Sunday afternoon. The
loss means the Cowboys have a tough, long road to earning a playoff
berth. It's a long fall from aspirations as the first home team to
play in their own stadium for a Super Bowl. Vikings linebacker E.J.
Henderson intercepted Tony Romo twice, including the icing with 7:33
remaining in the game.
