Buffalo Bills at Detroit Lions

Trent Edwards will try to solidify his presumed status as the opening day starter of the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night, when Edwards and Co. travel to meet the Detroit Lions in the final preseason tune-up for each team.

Edwards, who has started each of the Bills' preseason games thus far, comes off a strong outing in a 35-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, in which he connected on 13-of-17 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown. The Stanford product has looked sharper during the preseason than QB competitors Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brian Brohm, and barring a meltdown in what is likely to be a short stint on Thursday night, Edwards will be in the lineup when the Bills host the Miami Dolphins in Week 1.

Both teams wont be out there too long but expect the starters on both sides to play a little bit longer than most other teams at this time. With that in play we like the over in tongiht's pre-season release.

Minnesota Golden Gophers at Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders

Game Time: September 2, 2010, 7:30 P.M.

The Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee play host to the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the 2010 season opener on Thursday night at Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro.

Minnesota wrapped up a rather disappointing 2009 campaign with a tough 14-13 defeat at the hands of the Iowa State Cyclones in the Insight Bowl. The Golden Gophers finished the season with a 6-7 record, including a 2-5 mark down the stretch. Minnesota also hopes to improve on its conference record, going just 3-5 in the Big Ten last season.

This is a new beginning for both squads and both have high expectations even after a dismal 2009 camapign. The Gophers are a short favored in this release and they should have just enough to take down the Blue Raiders even on the road. Take the Gophers to start the season off on the right foot with a win on the road.
